Willingness to Serve in Johnston County
Posted by Wendy Minton Edwards in category on February 28, 2012
On February 21st Baptist Tabernacle Church, Wendell, hosted an NCBAM training event entitled Loving God: Loving Seniors. Led by pastor Glen Brock, the good folks at the church worked hard to prepare well and help spread the word and their efforts well paid off. About 70 people, from 12 Johnston Association churches, attended. The group heard about the biblical call to help others, the growing numbers of aging adults in our midst, some of the limitations and needs of seniors, the NCBAM strategy of helping, and how they can be involved as an individual or as a team. The good news is that 42 of the largely senior group of participants volunteered to assist the frail elderly in their community. While many of them have been actively caring for seniors for years, we believe that this renewed focus on the needs of the frail elderly will help to encourage others to see the faces of needy seniors and respond as did the Good Samaritan, doing what they can, as they can, and then enlisting the help of others to do what they cannot.
Thanks pastor Glen and the Baptist Tabernacle family for helping to extend the care of the elderly and the ministry of NCBAM.
