Each session is 2 1/2 hours long, and all workshops are facilitated by 2 trained leaders. "Living Healthy" is designed to enhance regular treatment and does not address medical issues. Participants may have arthritis, diabetes, heart disease, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, or any other ongoing health condition. People are encouraged to attend all of the sessions, and will receive a free book if they attend all 6. There is no charge to participants. The class is limited to 15 people.
"Living Healthy with Diabetes" is also a once a week (2 1/2 hours) for 6 consecutive weeks workshop. People with type 2 diabetes will learn techniques to deal with the symptoms of diabetes, fatigue, pain, hyper/hypoglycemia, stress and emotional problems such as depression, fear and frustration. People will also learn appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength and endurance, healthy eating, appropriate use of medication, and working more effectively with health car providers. The program does not conflict with existing treatment. For medical questions, participants are referred to their physicians.
